Ms. Rachel Cooper
Publicist
January, 2012
“Beauty PR rep, NYC transplant, oversized sunglasses devotee and lover of BBQ ribs, books, crosswords and characters.”
Rachel’s name says it all - she’s a natural born Cooper! After emailing back-and-forth for what felt like forever, Rachel made the move from New York City to Chicago at the start of the year. She’s a welcomed addition to our space for sure, especially since she bakes often and always shares. Thanks for introducing some of us to kugel, Rach!
Q: So, how’d you find The Coop?
A: I was researching shared office space and kept coming up with stuffy, corporate suites way out of my budget. But really I wanted to be somewhere younger and more creative. When I changed my Google search from “shared office space” to “coworking” The Coop popped up.
Q: Had you coworked before?
A: Nope.
Q: What was your first impression of The Coop?
A: That I made the right choice not working from home…
Q: What do you think of the people around you?
A: Well, all the people here are friendly and not distracting, or intrusive. They let you work …and they do their work.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about our Coop?
A: Eli because he reminds you of the luck dragon from The Neverending Story!
Q: Tell us about what you work on while you’re here…
A: I manage the Chicago office for a boutique beauty PR firm, RED PR. Right now I’m working on coordinating an online runway nails video with a major women’s publication. I am also finalizing logistics for a client event out in San Diego, CA… while simultaneously stuffing face with delicious Whole Foods sushi and peanut butter M&Ms.
Q: How do you explain coworking to your friends?
A:I say coworking is a great way to telecommute for an out-of-state firm (or run your own company) without having to stay within the confines of your apartment. A diverse group of happy, semi-social people in a productive environment. Coworking just gives you a place to go.

We recently played host to both a Creative Mornings discussion with The Post Family, and an AIGA Member Mixer. It was great to see The Coop filled with new fresh faces, if only for an evening or two. Below are some of our favorite shots…. Enjoy!

You can find more of Chris Gallevo’s snapshots from The Post Family talk on the Creative Mornings Flickr Photostream. For AIGA images we posted a few pics from the Mixer below, and there are many more in the AIGA Flickr set.
